Texans' defense overwhelms Bears' rookie QB Caleb Williams in Week 1 victory

Houston's defense wreaked havoc in the season opener, forcing five turnovers and holding Chicago to just 106 passing yards.

Caleb Williams, the Bears' highly touted rookie quarterback, struggled mightily in his NFL debut, completing just 11 of 27 passes for 106 yards and four interceptions.

The Texans' defense was relentless all game long, forcing Williams into numerous mistakes. In the first quarter, Williams threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown by Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr.

In the second quarter, Williams fumbled the ball on a sack by Texans defensive end Jerry Hughes, which led to another Texans touchdown.

The Texans' defense also sacked Williams five times and forced him to scramble out of the pocket on numerous occasions.

Texans' defense dominates from start to finish

The Texans' defense set the tone for the game early on, forcing a three-and-out on the Bears' opening drive.

On the Bears' next possession, Williams was intercepted by Stingley Jr., who returned the ball 26 yards for a touchdown.

The Texans' defense continued to put pressure on Williams throughout the game, forcing him into several more mistakes.

Caleb Williams struggles in NFL debut

Williams, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, had a rough debut in the NFL.

He completed just 11 of 27 passes for 106 yards and four interceptions.

Williams was also sacked five times and fumbled the ball once.

Texans win season opener

The Texans' defense was the star of the show in the team's 23-10 victory over the Bears in Week 1.

The Texans' offense struggled at times, but the defense was able to create turnovers and keep the Bears out of the end zone.

The Texans will look to build on their Week 1 victory when they host the Buffalo Bills in Week 2.
