World Athletics Championships Budapest 2023: Kerr Wins Shock Gold in Men's 1500m
Great Britain's Josh Kerr pulled off a stunning upset at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, claiming gold in the men's 1500m on Wednesday.
Kerr shocked the field by edging out Olympic champion and pre-race favorite Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway in a thrilling finish.
Kerr, who finished with a time of 3:29.25, became the first British man to win a world title in the 1500m since 1983.
The race had been billed as a showdown between Ingebrigtsen and Kenya's Abel Kipsang, but Kerr stormed into the lead with two laps remaining and held on for a dramatic victory.
Ingebrigtsen took silver with a time of 3:29.47, while Kipsang settled for bronze in 3:29.56.
