Dutch Government Sworn Into Office After Months of Political Wrangling

New Leadership, New Promises

THE HAGUE (AP) — The Netherlands has a new government, sworn into office on Tuesday after months of political wrangling.

The new government, led by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, has pledged to govern the country differently after nearly 14 years under the previous administration.

Diverse Coalition

The new government is a coalition of four parties, each with its own deputy prime minister. This is the first time that Geert Wilders, the leader of the anti-Islam Freedom Party, has been included in a governing coalition.

The government faces a number of challenges, including the rising cost of housing, climate change, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
